Gypsophila Zinzi® Titan

Gypsophila Zinzi® Titan: an update on this big flowered all-round variety

HilverdaFlorist’s Gypsophila Zinzi® Series has made its mark in the market, with Zinzi® Discovery already recognized as a standout variety. But the series holds even more potential. This article highlights the impressive Gypsophila Zinzi® Titan, a promising addition to the collection. Read on to discover what sets this variety apart.

About Gypsophila Zinzi® Titan

Zinzi® Titan fits into the segment of large-flowered Gypsophila varieties. With a flower diameter up to 12 mm, Titan is sure to impress in floral works. The light green stems offer a fresh look, carrying the clear white, voluminous double flowers. Titan offers a good vase life and will keep on developing and flowering in the vase, unlike other Gypsophila varieties. This creates an excellent retail presentation. Currently Sandpro Growers is growing Titan exclusively in Kenya and will be the first to offer these at the Dutch auction from early December 2024.

Gypsophila Zinzi® Titan in cultivation

Like other Zinzi® varieties, Titan is an attractive and easy variety in cultivation. With a high production rate and relatively fast speed of growth, this is a rewarding choice. Titan offers heavy, tall stems with great strength. These are easy to harvest, due to their upright structure. Because of this, the stems will not tangle as much as Gypsophila usually does, making it quicker in sorting and bunching.

It’s possible to grow Gypsophila Zinzi® Titan both indoors and outdoors. The robust plants are less sensitive to day length variation. The life cycle is 1 – 1.5 year with 1.5 to 2.5 flushes per year. The first harvest can be done around 3 – 4 months after planting, depending on light and temperature.

Use of Gypsophila Zinzi® Titan in floral works

Zinzi® Titan is suitable for all types of arrangements, whether it’s a mono-bouquet, or as a voluminous filler in colourful arrangement. Note that Zinzi® Titan is more than a traditional filler – its larger blooms stand out as a key component because of its impressive large flowers. It can, for example, be used in concentrated clusters throughout arrangements or combined with other bold flowers like Alstroemeria Fashionista® Pink or Dianthus Sparkz® Green or Breanthus. The possibilities are endless.
